School of Sustainability Stafford Internship Scholarship

The School of Sustainability Internship Scholarship provides funds to help support undergraduate sustainability students completing an unpaid internship with a non-profit organization (which may include NGO’s, government organizations, and education institutions).

The scholarship assists students in meeting costs associated with tuition/fees, books, and living expenses. Additionally, awards are not guaranteed and are subject to availability of funds.

Complete the following application to be considered for a scholarship from one of the following awards:

  • Stafford Internship Scholarship: supports students pursuing sustainability focused unpaid internships with non-profit organizations.
  • Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family scholarship: supports students pursuing unpaid internships focused on affordable housing and healthy communities, including access to stable, decent, affordable housing and the connection to health, food access, and transportation (including shade) to help craft regional integrated solutions leading to happy healthy communities.

The scholarship assists students in meeting costs associated with tuition/fees, books, and living expenses. Additionally, awards are not guaranteed and are subject to availability of funds.

  • Amount: $2,000
  • Deadline: December 15 for Spring, May 1 for Summer, and August 1 for Fall
  • Award term: Fall, Spring, or Summer
  • Academic level: Junior and senior undergraduate students
  • Eligibility: This application is only available to current undergraduate degree-seeking students enrolled in the School of Sustainability who are in good standing and plan on pursuing an unpaid credit-bearing internship with a non-profit organization. The student needs to have a qualifying internship and be enrolled in SOS 484: Internship credit during the semester the scholarship is awarded. Scholarships are awarded with both merit and need considered. To determine financial need, a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is an indicator used to determine need. Complete the FAFSA at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to be considered for financial need-based scholarships.
  • Essay: Students should answer essay prompts based on their experiences. It is important that students spend time preparing meaningful responses to these questions and pay attention to spelling, grammar, and paragraph structure.
